b'GREG LOUGANIS Greg Louganis, winner of five Olympic medals in diving, first experienced depression at age 12 when a doctor told him that because of knee damage, he would have to give up his dream of competing in gymnastics in the Olympics. Louganis attempted suicide twice before the age of 18. He then discovered that divinga sport less taxing for the kneeswas a way for him to continue in sports.
